Willimantic Woman Killed in Crash in Chaplin

A 28-year-old Willimantic woman was killed in a crash on Route 6 in Chaplin Tuesday morning.

The three-car crash closed part of Route 6 near Riaseczny Road and the Hampton town line around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to state police.

Police said Emily Hammond, 28, of Willimantic, was driving a Nissan Versa and hit an unoccupied Subaru Forrester that was parked on the shoulder of Route 6 around 6:30 a.m., spun and hit a Ford Edge that was going west. The driver of the Subaru was transported to Windham Hospital.

Hammond was also transported to Windham Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries, according to police.
