Communities across the state will hold Veterans Day events on Monday. Some are already celebrating those who have served our nation.
In New Haven on Sunday, the Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge, also known as the Q Bridge, was lit up in red, white and blue to honor veterans.
It will also be specially lit on Monday.
Marching bands, bagpipers and other musicians were just a part of the annual Veterans Day Parade in Enfield on Sunday.
“For me, being a veteran and my husband being a veteran, he’s an Iraq veteran, it’s very special when I see people from the community and from different organizations out here,” said Pamela Townsend, American Legion Post 154.
People bundled up to watch different community groups, politicians and others march through town.
At Eli’s on Whitney in Hamden, people could enjoy music and breakfast as part of a fundraiser for House of Heroes Connecticut.

The organization provides free home repairs for veterans facing various challenges.
“Every job is different. Every veteran is different. But the gratitude is always there,” said Chairman of House of Heroes Connecticut Carol May.
In West Hartford, a crew from Rob’s Gutter Cleaning offered up their services for free to veterans, including Rob Rowlson.
“This was very special to me. It’s the first time in my life I’ve not been able to do it,” said Rowlson.
The company worked on at least 15 homes in town this year.
It has plans to expand the program next year to elsewhere in the state.
“It’s about giving back to the community basically saying thank you to the men and women for protecting the country,” said Megan Polo, Rob’s Gutter Cleaning.
