Shelton Man Beaten, Robbed in Own Driveway

A Shelton man was attacked and robbed while leaving for work Wednesday morning.

The 40-year-old victim was leaving his house on Long Hill Avenue around 6:15 a.m. when two men wearing ski masks and hoodies approached him in his driveway, according to police. The man told police he works in the jewelry business and was headed to work carrying two bags containing cash and jewelry when he was attacked.

According to police, one of the suspects told the victim to hand over the bags, while the other suspect began beating the man over the head with a handgun. The suspects took the bags and fled on foot, police said.

When officers arrived, the found the victim suffering from wounds to his head. He was taken to the hospital to be treated.

Based on an initial investigation, police believe at least one of the attackers was familiar with the victim. They said the incident does not appear to be random.
