Shooting Suspect Has Been Arrested 50 Times: Cops

The Major Crimes Division of the Hartford Police Department has arrested a suspect in a Nov. 11 shooting who they said had been arrested in Hartford 49 times before.

On Thursday, police arrested Byron “Bleach” Williams, 44, of Hartford, at the Hartford Police Department.

Verall (Anthony) Hampton, of Hartford, was shot five times around 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11 on Albany Avenue, police said.

Williams was charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, assault in the first degree and criminal possession of a firearm and turned himself in through his attorney, police said.

Court records show prior convictions for drug possession and sales, robbery as well as weapons convictions.

Williams was on probation at the time of the shooting and is being held on $750,000 judge set bond.
