Shooting Victim Went Home for Lunch Before Going to Hospital

Not even being shot in the groin could keep a man from his deli sandwich on Tuesday afternoon.

Miguel Soto III, 25, stopped at the deli on George and Day streets in New Haven for a sandwich on Tuesday afternoon. When we left the deli, he heard three gunshots, but carried on and went home to eat his sandwich, police said.

It wasn’t until he finished his lunch that he asked his father to take him to Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Two shots fired outside the sandwich shop had struck him – one in the groin and one in the left thigh – and he needed treatment.

Soto is being treated for non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Police are looking for two men in connection with the shooting.
