West Haven police are searching for the man who attempted to rob a West Haven antiques shop this morning. A shot was fired during the altercation and struck the building, according to police.
Police responded to Atlantis Antiques on Boston Post Road after receiving a 911 call and the store owner said he was opening his business when a man approached him and demanded to be allowed into the store, police said.
There was a struggle, police said. The perpetrator’s gun discharged and at least one shot hit the building, police said.
The business owner suffered a minor hand injury, according to police, and the perpetrator fled.
Police are looking for a man, possibly in a woman's wig, who was driving a black Nissan.
The incident happened feet away from the Boston Post Road and police are also asking for the public's help to find the man.
