Police Locate 3-Year-Old Taken From Hospital in New London

Police have located a 3-year-old girl from New London who was the subject of a Silver Alert after her mother, who does not have parental custody, fled from a hospital with the girl on Wednesday.

A Silver Alert was issued Wednesday after emergency crews at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital reported the child missing. According to police, the 3-year-old was a patient who was taken by her mother, 29-year-old India Quinones, despite a medical hold.

New London police said that the child was found Friday after a concerned citizen called in with a tip about a possible location. Police found the child and Quinones at an address on Bristol Street. The state Department of Children and Families responded and took custody of the child, who was returned to the hospital for treatment.

The investigation is ongoing and police said they are looking into possible criminal charges.
