Son Tries to Evict 98-Year-Old Mom from Home

Son served the eviction papers on mom's birthday.

A 98-year-old Connecticut woman is fighting her son's attempt to evict her from her home.

Mary Kantorowski, of Fairfield, was served with eviction papers on her 98th birthday in December.

She said she can't believe what her oldest son, Peter, is doing.

"My husband worked hard, difficult jobs to buy this house. He built the garage and did a lot of work on the house and he told me never to leave it," she told the Connecticut Post.

Her lawyer told the Post that the case "despicable."

A trial is set for March 2.

Mary Kanotorowski has lived in the yellow Cape Cod-style home since 1953. Her husband, John, died in 1997.

Peter Kantorowski, of Trumbull, owns the home and said he's concerned about his mother's well-being after seeing her disoriented and living in poor conditions.

He said his mother has rejected his suggestions to live with him or in a nursing home.
