South Windsor Police Use Narcan to Save Man After Overdose

South Windsor police administered Narcan and saved a 40-year-old man who overdosed on Tuesday night.

Police responded to a medical call on Woodside Drive around 8 p.m. after the man’s father called and said his son was not breathing, police said.

First responders soon learned the unconscious man had a history of heroin use and Corporal Mark Cleverdon administered 2 milligrams of Narcan nasal spray. The man regained consciousness and was brought to Hartford Hospital,

The police department was recently obtained medical authority to carry and use Narcan and Cpl. Cleverdon was among the first SWPD officers trained in the use of Narcan on Monday, police said.
