Southington police responded to a robbery at the Farmington Bank branch at 1 Center Street Monday.

A man wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and a knit hat walked up to a teller and demanded money just before noon. The man did not show or imply he had a weapon, according to police.

After the robbery, the man took off running in a northeasterly direction, and may have jumped into a silver or gray older model Ford Taurus, police said. Officers set up a perimeter and searched for the robber without luck.

He is described as being about 6-feet tall with a thin build.

Anyone who witnessed anything near the bank around noon is asked to call the Southington Police Department at 860-378-1698.
