Rock Thrown Through Southington Home With 7-Year-Old Inside

A Southington family is hoping police will be able to track down the person who hurled a rock at their home while their 7-year-old was inside.

The child, Louis Pereira, was on the couch with his mother last Thursday around 9 p.m. when they heard the crash.

“I was shaking,” said Louis. “I was scared.”

Louis’ father Michael got a call with the news while he was at work. He rushed home to find the police already at his home on November Lane in the Plantsville section of town.

“By looking at the damage, the rock, I could tell was going at a high rate of speed,” Michael said.

It was moving fast enough to travel all the way through the living room and finally came to a stop in the sheetrock of a dining room wall. The wall and living room window now need repairs, but Michael said that is nothing compared to what could have happened if the rock hit his family.

“If it hit my child or my wife it could have been lethal,” he said.

The Pereira’s said the initial police search for suspects came up empty but they are hoping someone saw something so this does not happen to anyone else in Southington.

“That's not right,” said Michael. “That's not right at all.”
