A Westport woman's dream of owning a brand new Mustang convertible was literally crushed after an elderly woman accidentally lost control of the car she was driving and drove over the Mustang.

Allison Gruder had just registered her shiny blue birthday present at the Norwalk DMV  Friday afternoon when the accident happened.

"It was my dream car, I looked for it for a little while, my husband went through a lot of trouble to get it for me for my birthday", a shocked Gruber said.

Fire crews used the Jaws of Life to cut the elderly driver from her Honda Accord. She was rushed to Norwalk Hospital with serious injuries. Police are not releasing  the elderly driver's identity.

Gruder was not hurt despite the fact that her new car was totaled.

No charges have been filed as police continue their investigation.
