Sports Saved, Students Shuffled

The Wallingford school board had some fireworks Monday as the board voted for two hot button issues.

After first voting to eliminate middle school sports the board was able to rearrange funds to get the nearly $90,000 dollars to keep them.   After a round of appause for that victory the mood quickly changed as parent argued against reconfiguring the elementary schools.

The new plan would change the 8 current schools into pairs of kindergarten through 2nd, and 3rd through 5th grade.

Just before 11 p.m. Monday, the school board voted 7 to 2 to reconfigure the elementary schools.
