State Police Find Vehicle of Interest in Death, Explosion Investigation in Hamden

State and local police have recovered a vehicle of interest as they investigate whether there is any connection between a body found and an explosion in Hamden.

Officers arrived on Wintergreen Avenue around 11:12 a.m. on July 4 to investigate the report of an explosion just north of Carbonell Drive.

On the property of West Rock State Park, they found a dead male in the woods.

Investigators were looking for two people they said might have been driving a gold or champagne colored Nissan Altima with Florida plates.

The car police seized was a four-door, gold Nissan Altima with a Florida registration plate.

Police are working to confirm whether that vehicle is connected to the explosion and/or the death.

State police said there is no threat to the public and this seems like it was an isolated incident.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will examine the victim's body. His name will not be released until next of kin is notified.

State police ask anyone with information to call Central District Major Crime at 860-685-8190. Calls will remain confidential.
