State Police Investigate Incident Attempted Sex Assault at Mohegan

Police are investigating an attempted sexual assault at Mohegan Sun.

State police are investigating what they said was an attempted sexual assault in a parking lot at Mohegan Sun Casino early Saturday morning.

The victim told police that a man approached her at the hotel just after 3 a.m. on Saturday and offered to sell her illegal narcotics, according to police.

The woman agreed to take money out from an ATM to buy the drugs and followed the man out to the Winter garage and to a parking lot, police said.

When she gave him money for the drugs, the man grabbed her by the arm, dragged her across Cove Road into a wooded area and tried to sexually assault the victim, police said.

The man ran away and the woman returned to the casino through the garage and notified State Police, police said.

After telling police what happened, she was treated at Backus Hospital for minor injuries and released.

Troopers were not able to find the man when they searched the area, but they did find evidence.

Police said the casino surveillance unit was able to track the victim and her assailant on video throughout the casino and produced still photographs from the video.

Anyone with information about the assailant is asked to call State Police at (860)848-6534.
