State Trooper’s Cruiser Hit on I-691

There were two crashes on Interstate 691 this morning, one exit apart.

In one crash, a state trooper’s cruiser was struck by another vehicle.

Police said the cruiser was struck just before 9 a.m. near exit 4 and the trooper is OK.

Another car rolled over in a separate case. No one was injured in that case either.

The highway was backed up after the crash.

This was the second crash this morning involving a state trooper.

A cruiser that was blocking the ramp from Interstate 91 South to Interstate 95 North in New Haven was struck just after 1 a.m.

Police said the driver who struck the trooper on the highway failed to yield for the police car, which had activated  emergency lights.
