Ethan Brown was left without a mother when an alleged drunken driver struck and killed Danielle Nicholson, 21, and Joshua Lecce, 23, in May. Now her family is coming together to try and raise money for the 1-year-old she left behind.

Sunday, the family held a fundraiser and memorial motorcycle ride held in Danielle’s honor in New London.

"We just wanted to do something to try to secure the future for Ethan," Stephanie Nicholson said.

Nicholson says it’s been tough for Ethan, but she hopes the fundraiser will help him financially and emotionally.

"It might make him feel the world’s not a bad place, that people will be there to help you when you need it cause right now he needs it."

Joseph Donohue was charged with driving under the influence after the crash on Route 32 in Waterford.

Ethan, who turns 2 in September, lives with his father Kevin Brown, and it has been extremely difficult for him since Danielle was killed.

"It’s been challenging. We’ve been trying to keep up the same normal things, day care and being around all his friends and family," Brown said.

Bikers like Paul Vernotzy came out to raise money for Ethan and said they did it all for the little boy.

"We just like to support anybody that’s having a little misfortune. We do whatever we can to come out and support whoever needs our help," Vernotzy said.

Donohue returns to New London Superior Court on Tuesday for a pre-trial hearing. He is currently held on $500,000.
