Police say around 11 a.m., a man entered Puppies of Westport, 255 Westport Ave. and purchased the $4,000 white and tan English bull dog.

When the credit card was first swiped through the electronic card reader, it was denied. However the name on the card matched the suspect’s driver license so the store manually put the card through.

The owner of the store realized later that the card had been stolen when the person who actually owned the card came into the store Monday afternoon.

The whole transaction was caught by surveillance cameras. Police are still investigating.
