Two people are hospitalized in serious condition after a fire destroyed a Stratford home Friday night.

Firefighters responded to a fire at 52 Bowe Avenue, a single family residence around 10:30 p.m.

Flames were shooting from the rear of the home upon firefighters arrival.  One occupant had already been rescued from the home by a neighbor and was on the front porch of the house.

Firefighters pulled a second occupant, the homeowner, from the blaze. Both were taken to Bridgeport Hospital and are said to be in serious condition.

Two firefighters also suffered minor injuries and were treated and released from the hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.  Officials have not releasing the identities of the occupants yet.

Stratford fire officials said it took 45 minutes to get the flames under control.  The home sustained heavy damage and is considered a total loss.
