A fire that started near a pellet stove damaged a home in Somers Tuesday.

Firefighters responded to 18 Battle Street around 7:25 a.m. after a woman called 911 to say there was a fire behind her pellet stove, according to fire officials.

The woman called back minutes later to say the flames had spread up the wall of her living room.

Firefighters entered the house and found the fire in the living room, hallway and kitchen area.  The flames were brought under control in about 30 minutes, according to fire officials.  The woman got out of the home and was not injured.  She was the only one living in the house.

Several rooms suffered heat and smoke damage and the house is not habitable, fire officials said.

The cause is under investigation, but fire officials said it appears to be accidental.
