One Hospitalized, Four Displaced After House Fire in Brooklyn

One person was hospitalized and four displaced on Thanksgiving night after a house fire in Brooklyn, CT.

Quinebaug Valley emergency dispatchers confirmed that firefighters responded to a reported structure fire at 399 Windham Road around 8:30 p.m. Thursday night. It took five departments approximately 45 minutes to contain the blaze.

According to Brooklyn Fire Marshal Doug Kramer, one woman was transported to Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam with second-degree burns on her back and shoulders. Two others were transported for evaluation.

At this point fire officials say the fire appears to be accidental. They believe it started when a candle was knocked over in a second-floor bedroom.

The home appears to be a total loss.
