Students Mourn Loss of Classmate in Milford

Students in Milford spent Friday grieving and trying to make sense of the death of classmate Maren Sanchez.

The 16-year-old was attacked and stabbed in a hallway inside Jonathan Law High School Friday morning, hours before she was supposed to attend her junior prom.

Friends took to Twitter to express their grief. They used hashtags #RIPMaren, #Lawstrong and #MilfordStrong on tweets throughout the day on Friday.

Classmates gathered on school grounds late Friday and spray painted a large rock purple, Maren's favorite color. They added Maren's name and her date of birth. The students then gathered around the rock for a moment of silence.

Across town, students at Foran High School posted a YouTube video offering their support to the Jonathan Law community.

"We just wanted to let you guys know that we're hurting right there with you," one student said in the video.

"You're in our thoughts and you're in our prayers, and we'll do this together guys. Stay strong," another student said.
