Students Return to UConn

Thousands of students are moving back to UConn today and the school is welcoming the most diverse freshmen class it's ever had.

Minorities make up 37 percent of the incoming class.

UConn is expecting around 12,600 undergraduates and some will be moving into brand new housing because NextGen Hall, which just opened on Wednesday, is the first dorm built in more than a decade on the Storrs campus.

Freshmen start moving in this morning, while upperclassmen and transfer students move in Saturday and Sunday.

“Excited because we have more space to be creative and we'll be able to interact more with other learning communities,” Brittany Reynolds, a sophomore, said.

The $105 million NextGen Hall can house more than 700 students and includes study space for students.
