Suspect Charged in New Britain Murder

The man was already in jail for shooting his victim once before, according to police.

Police have made an arrest in the November, 2010 murder of a man in New Britain.

Victor Andino, 35, was arrested Monday. He is charged with shooting and killing Jorge David Aponte. Police responded Black Rock Avenue Nov. 14, 2010 and found Aponte suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the hospital but died a short time later.

Andino is charged with murder, criminal use of a firearm and criminal possession of a firearm. He has been in jail since October, 2011 on charges he shot Andino once before, according to police. Andino shot and injured Aponte on South Whiting Street Sept. 29, 2010, police said.

Andino is being held on $1 million bond on the murder charges. He was already being held on $900,000 bond on the original shooting charges.

Police said they expect to make more arrests in the murder case.
