A judge has ordered a 27-year-old man accused of kidnapping a female student at Norwalk Community College to undergo drug rehabilitation.

Alexander Wendorf, of Stamford, was arraigned Thursday.  He is being held on $500,000 bond.  Wendorf was charged with second-degree kidnapping, unlawful restraint and impersonating a police officer.  His court appearance comes as new details emerge about how the attack allegedly happened.

Police say Wendorf pretended to be a Norwalk cop - - going as far as flashing a fake badge -- to lure a female student into his car on Tuesday.

Investigators say Wendorf not only pretended to be a police officer but claimed he was a diabetic.  He allegedly went on to describe how he was a Norwalk police officer trying to bust students for smoking marijuana.

Police say Wendorf asked the victim for help.  Once he got the victim in the car, he asked her to hold a flashlight while he injected himself with insulin, police said.  Once she was in the car, he allegedly leaned over, slammed the door and drove off.

Fortunately, the girl managed to get away by jumping from the moving SUV a few blocks away from campus near Scribner Avenue, police said.

"An SUV pulled out driving recklessly, swerving and the passenger side door was open and we heard screaming me and my friend and we instantly called police and followed them down until they got to the stop they turned and a girl jumped out of the car",  said a witness, a NCC student who did not want to be identified.

Police say the victim's dress was ripped and she had cuts all over right side.  She went to the hospital with just minor injuries and ultimately played a key role in Wendorf’s arrest.

“The victim was a very good witness. There was evidence that was recovered that our troopers were able to analyze that led us to the identity of the suspect,” said Lt. J. Paul Vance said.

Wendorf attended classes at the college in spring 2005, the Stamford Advocate reports.
