Samuel Diaz is accused of more than a dozen car break-ins in West Hartford.

West Hartford police have arrested a 19-year-old Hartford man suspected in 13 car break-ins in town.

Police responded to South Quaker Lane, near Nutmeg Court, at 11:58 p.m. on Monday for a report of a man breaking into cars along the street and found a man getting out of a Mercedes on Ginger Drive, police said.

When police approached the man, he ran off, police said.

Another man, identified as Samuel Diaz, 19, of Hartford, was hiding behind a tree and also ran off, police said. Investigators later caught up with him, but he resisted. Officers shot him with a stun gun and took him into custody.

Diaz was charged with four counts conspiracy to commit burglary, three counts of criminal attempt burglary, larceny in the sixth degree and Interfering with an officer.

He was held on a $20,000 surety bond.

Police said Diaz is also suspected of car break-ins on Fenwood and Almeda avenues and further charges are being filed.
