Suspect in Armed Robbery of East Windsor Bank Held on $5 Million

Police have arrested the man accused of robbing an East Windsor bank at gunpoint over the summer and stealing a large sum of money.

David McLennon Johnson, 27, was arrested Saturday night at his home in Enfield.

East Windsor police said Johnson, clad in a ski mask and dark clothing, stole a significant amount of money from the Nutmeg State Federal Credit Union at 127 Prospect Hill Road on July 21. Johnson was armed with a semi-automatic handgun and ran from the scene.

Johnson has been charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree larceny with a firearm, first-degree kidnapping with a firearm, criminal use of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree threatening and carrying a handgun without a permit.

He was held on $5 million bond and was due in court Monday.

The FBI helped East Windsor police crack the case and a $5,000 reward was issued for information leading to an arrest.

East Windsor police said authorities in Windsor are still investigating.
