Michigan Man Suspected in Bridgeport Fatal Hit and Run

Bridgeport police have obtained an arrest warrant for a Michigan man suspected in a hit-and-run crash that killed a Bridgeport man on Saturday, July 2.

Police obtained an arrest warrant on Tuesday, charging Lorenzo Anthony Doke, 33, of Michigan, with first-degree manslaughter and evading responsibility.

Doke is suspected of hitting Ricardo Rose, 56, of Prospect Street in Bridgeport, with a tractor-trailer on Wordin Avenue, near Howard Avenue around 1:25 p.m.

Police said the incident started as an argument over money the Doke owed Rose for drugs and Doke refused to pay, then forced the victim out of the truck and ran him over.

Police said the driver and the vehicle were found early Sunday morning at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York and the suspect reportedly confessed.

U.S. marshals apprehended Doke in Maryland on Wednesday.
