Suspect in Woodbridge Shooting Arrested

New Haven Police have arrested the suspect in an shooting in Woodbridge early Monday morning.

Patrick Young, age 20, was taken into custody on Tuesday night, according to New Haven police.

Police said he is suspected in a shooting that happened at 1:26 a.m. on Monday near the Litchfield Turnpike in the area of Morris Road.

A man and three women were in a car driving down Morris Road when the two female passengers started to argue.

Police said a woman was driving, pulled the car over near the woods, and the man, identified as Young, ordered the two passengers out of the car at gunpoint.

Young, 20, then shot one of the women and he and the driver fled, according to police.

The victim, in her 20s, was shot in the hand and upper torso. The other woman who was with her ran to Route 69, flagged down a passing vehicle and the victim was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital, police said.

The two women flagged down a passing car and were able to get help, police said.

New Haven police said Young was reported to be armed and in a white Acura in the Fair Haven district and officers found him at Grand Avenue and Haven Street.

He was taken into custody and turned over to Woodbridge officers. A weapon was not recovered.
