Suspects Shoot, Pistol-Whips Men in New Haven

Police are looking for the suspects who shot at one man and pistol-whipped another in New Haven on Thursday afternoon. 

The victims, 20 and 21 years old, said when they were confronted by two men on Poplar Street at around 1:30 p.m., one of the men used a gun to strike one victim and the group began to struggle, police said. 

Two shots were fired and one of the victims was struck in his bicep, New Haven Police said. 

The suspects fled towards Clay Street, while the victims went to a McDonald's on Ferry Street to wait for police to arrive. EMTs transported them to the hospital and neither suffered life-threatening injuries, police said. 

Police found and questioned someone matching the attacker's description hiding at the rear of 425 Poplar Street but the 23-year-old has not been charged.
