Hartford police and the bomb squad investigated after a suspicious package was found outside an obstetrician and gynecology office in Hartford on Thursday morning. Officials said the package did not seem to be dangerous.

The Hartford GYN Center is located at Jefferson and Main street and police closed the surrounding streets as a precaution. They also evacuated some buildings in the area including the Barney building, which is located on the edge of the Hartford Hospital campus.

Hartford Hospital spokeswoman Lee Monroe said the Barney building was the only building at Hartford Hospital to be affected.

The four people who were working in that building were moved to another location and the rest of the hospital staff, patients and employees were not affected, Monroe said.

A portion of Jefferson Avenue was also blocked off as a precaution, along with intersections of Park, Main, Essex and Retreat.

Hartford police said the call came around 8 a.m.
