Police in Waterbury responded to a call at St. Mary's Hospital at approximately 12:30 today for a male that was creating a disturbance in the lobby of the emergency department, according to a police press release.
Police say he was taken into the rear of a police cruiser however the male continued to be combative, resulting in a police officer using his taser on the unidentified male.
The male then became unresponsive where attempts were made to resuscitate the man at the hospital but he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The identity has not been released by police pending notification of family members, police say.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death as The State's Attorney's Office and the Connecticut State Police are currently conducting an review of the incident.
