A student-teacher who worked for the American School for the Deaf in West Hartford has pleaded guilty to charges of using the Internet to lure a underage girl from New York into a sexually explicit relationship.
The girl told New York troopers that she had a sexual relationship with Micah Brown, 31.
Brown met the teenager online in October 2009 when he was a graduate student at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf at the Rochester Institute of Technology. He helped her with schoolwork, then began text messaging her, state police told the Utica Daily News.
Brown pleaded last August to a related felony charge for having sexual contact with the 16-year-old girl at her Syracuse-area home.
He faces a penalty ranging from 10 years to life in prison when he is sentenced later this summer. He must also register as a sex offender.
