Madison police arrested a teen accused of bringing an Airsoft gun to school on Thursday.

School administrators from Daniel Hand High School contacted police just after 8 a.m. to report that a student was in possession of a fake gun at school.

The 14-year-old student had shown the Airsoft-style gun to other students on the bus and one student who saw it notified a parent, who notified the school, according to police.

School administrators and security personnel identified the student, took the gun and notified police, police said.

The gun was not loaded and no one was injured, according to police.

The teen was charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds, carrying a facsimile firearm and breach of peace.

He was released to the custody of his parents and will appear in Superior Court for juvenile matters in New Haven.
