A North Branford teen is facing expulsion and a threatening charge after police say he told a friend he planned to bring a gun to school and seek revenge on peers making fun of him.

According to the New Haven Register, police said they arrested the 16-year-old junior at North Branford High School, Tuesday on a felony charge of first-degree threatening.

On Oct. 6, police also arrested him in the theft and sale of guns, then held him overnight. He was released when he posted $75,000 bail.

When the shooting threat was reported, police “knew he was going to go get arrested for stealing guns ... so that made the threat legitimate because he did allegedly steal three guns,” Detective Sgt. Ken McNamara told the Register.

Police say this week’s arrest stems from a conversation the teen allegedly had on Facebook with a friend who had already graduated. The youth said that the teen wanted to bring a gun to school, but did not specify a date, McNamara told the Register.
