Hamden police have arrested a 17-year-old accused of shooting a New Haven man in the abdomen.
Aaron Brandon, 22, of New Haven, was found in the parking lot of 42 Warner Street in Hamden at 10:40 p.m. on Sept. 1, police said.
He was suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
According to Hamden Police detectives, Brandon was walking through the parking lot when a 17-year-old approached him, placed a gun into his midsection and shot him, police said.
Brandon tried to run away from the area on foot before collapsing and was rushed to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he underwent surgery.
Detectives identified a 17-year-old Hamden resident as a suspect and arrested him on Sept. 3 at a relative’s house in New Haven and transported him to Hamden police headquarters.
The teen was charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, assault in the first degree, unlawful discharge of a firearm and carrying a pistol without a permit.
His name has not been released.
He is scheduled to appear in Juvenile Court in New Haven on Sept. 11.
