Teen Spiked Brownies for Classmates: Report

The brownies were spiked with meds for schizophrenia.

New Milford police have arrested a teen accused of spiking brownies and giving them to his high school classmates.

The Waterbury Republican-American reports that the teen made brownies with quetiapine, a drug used to treat schizophrenia, and gave them to fellow students at New Milford High School, as well as a staff member.

Side effects of the drug could include drowsiness, dizziness and many other problems, according to the National Center for Biotechnology Information.

Police did not release the teen’s age because he was 17 at the time of the incident, police said.

Supt. JeanAnn Paddyfote told the News-Times that the student will be suspended for  10 days, in accordance with the school district's disciplinary procedures, and the school will determine whether the student will be expelled.

The teen was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, and two counts of risk of injuries/impairing the morals of children. He was charged on Wednesday and is due in court on Thursday.
