Teen's Family Sues City Over Fatal Crash

The officer was driving 94 miles per hour, police said.

The family of a teen killed in a crash involving a police officer is suing the city of Milford.

David Servin, 19, and Ashlie Krakowski, 19, were killed in June 2009 when Milford police officer Jason Anderson's cruiser and the teens' car crashed.

The Servin family filed the lawsuit, according to the New Haven Register, that claims former Officer Anderson and Officer Richard Pisani were “racing” when the crash happens, the Register reports. Police previously disputed that they were racing.

Police said Anderson was driving 94 miles per hour while returning from a mutual aid call in West Haven and didn't have his emergency lights or siren on when the teens' car turned in front of him on Route 1 in Orange on June 13.

The Servins’ suit claims other officers who saw Anderson speeding did nothing to stop him.

Anderson pleaded not guilty to manslaughter charges and refused a plea deal in December.

The city has not commented on the lawsuit.
