Telethon to Make a Difference
Students from Haddam-Killingworth High School are putting on a live telethon to benefit The Crohns and Colitis Foundation of America
High school students are making a difference with a telethon. They're putting on the live telethon to raise money for Crohn’s disease and Colitis.
For the 21st year, students from Haddam-Killingworth High School are putting on the annual holiday show and telethon. This year the money will benefit The Crohns and Colitis Foundation of America.
The show is called Shoreline’s Got Talent. “We went to area high schools over the last two months and auditioned students interested in being part of the show,” explained Chuck Lewis, the schools Communications teacher.
But students like Emily Anderson say its the telethon that’s most important, “just so they can become aware of what’s going on and the cause.”
Crohn’s disease and Colitis affects the gastrointestinal tract, causing diarrhea and fatigue. The money will go toward research and to pay for 30 kids to visit Camp Oasis which is dedicated to those who suffer from the diseases.
Last year the telethon raised between $15,000 and $20,000. This year students hope all their hard work will pay off the same way.
