Icy roads, and other drivers, are going to make your commute messy on Monday morning.

Temperatures dipped down into the 30s on Sunday night and the roads are still slick, especially high roads and highways. That has caused many crashes on Monday morning.

The Arrigoni Bridge connecting Middletown and Portland is closed because of ice and you should expect delays on Route 2 West in Preston at School House Road because a bus and an SUV collided. The scene is clear, according to the state Department of Transportation, but expect delays.

The northbound lanes of the Wilbur Cross Parkway in Wallingford were also closed.

Problems are also being reported at the Interstate 91 merge with the Wilbur Cross Parkway and Interstate 691 in Meriden, Route 8 in Watertown and Route 2 in East Hartford.

Just before 6 a.m., traffic on Route 9 South in the area of Berlin was backed up for about a mile because of a crash. And at least two cars had rolled over on Route 9 North between Berlin and New Britain.

New Britain Avenue right near the Route 9 off ramp is also slick. If you’re out on the roads, drive slowly.

The National Weather Service issued a freeze warning for northern Fairfield County.

Keep up on traffic and the weather forecast on NBC Connecticut.
