Thousands Gather for Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

Thousands gathered in Bushnell Park in Hartford on Saturday morning for the Susan G. Komen Race for the cure 5k run/walk.

The Komen Race for the Cure Series raises funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer.

The group, founded in 1982, has raised and invested more than $2.5 billion for the cause.

The foundation was founded by Nancy Brinker, who promised her dying sister Susan Komen that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer.
