3 Women in Critical Condition After Morning Crash

Jose Luis Lele

Two sisters and their cousin are in critical condition after a crash in New Haven early Monday morning.

Police responded to a single-car crash at 3:50 a.m. at Lombard and Monroe streets and found a Ford Taurus operated by Leslie Polanco, 27, police said.

Firefighters extricated her, her 22-year-old sister, Lissa Polanco, and their cousin, Mandy Gutierrez, 24, from the car.

All three women were taken to area hospitals, police said. No information has yet been released on the towns they live in.

The crash investigation unit completed the initial phase of their investigation, police said.
