This Thursday, Southern Connecticut State University officers will trade their bullet proof vests for aprons to help raise money for the Special Olympics.
The officers will serve customers at Anna Liffey’s, 17 Whitney Ave., New Haven. All proceeds raised will support the over 14,000 athletes that compete in the Special Olympics each year.
The officers will be serving Anna Liffey’s traditional Irish fare from 12 p.m.-8:30 p.m.
The Tip-a-Cop fundraiser falls under the Law Enforcement Torch Run Program umbrella.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run program is one of the Special Olympic’s largest fundraiser and public awareness vehicles.
Last year, the program raised over $500,000 through events like Tip-A-Cop, Cops-on Top and Jail N’ Bail.
