Man Steals Car With Toddler Inside

West Haven Police are searching for the man they said stole a car with a 3-year-old child inside. 

The child's mother left the car running while she went into Krauser's Food Store on Campbell Avenue around 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sgt. David Tammaro said.

A Krauszer's employee said the mother was buying a newspaper and a few other items and suddenly realized her car was pulling away from the store with her child still inside the vehicle. 

Police found the car with and child inside a short time later on Spring Street. The toddler was unharmed.

Police ask anyone who witnessed the incident to call West Haven Police at 203-937-3900.
