You know it's been a rough winter when even a hockey rink closes because of ice.

UConn has closed the Freitas Ice Forum as a precaution because of snow and ice on the roof, Mike Enright, the school's sports information director told the Associated Press. There is no evidence of structural damage to the building.

The closure isn’t only impacting the UConn hockey team, Freitas rink also serves as the home rink for E.O. Smith, Tolland and Windham high schools co-op team, and the Northeast Ice Dogs youth hockey program.

The rink is expected to remain closed through the weekend. The men and women's games will be held at the XL Center.
