Person Killed by Amtrak Train

The accident happened on the Wallingford-Meriden town line.

A person was hit and killed by an Amtrak train in Wallingford Monday.

The New Haven to Springfield train was traveling near Old Colony Road when it struck the person around 11 a.m., according to Amtrak spokesperson Cliff Cole.

The victim appears to be a female, Wallingford police said.

There were 36 passengers on the train at the time of the accident. No one on board was injured. The train was being held for two hours at the location near Gypsy Lane in Meriden, just across the Wallingford town line as police and Amtrak investigated.

Service on the rail line resumed around 1 p.m., according to Amtrak.
