CTTRANSIT has resumed service after Superstorm Sandy.

Some routes, particularly in shoreline communities, might be affected by detours associated with storm damage, flooding or debris.

Metro-North train service remains suspended because trees are down and there are signal and power outages throughout the territory, as well as damage from flooding. Their are also a technical difficulties with the phone system.

Repairs are underway to tracks, power and signal systems/.

Officials from the state Department of Transportation have been in touch with Metro-North, Gov, Dannel Malloy said on Tuesday.

“Extraordinary damage has been done to the underground system in New York, particularly in lower Manhattan, as well at the PATH trains in New Jersey. I think we can only assume that it’s going to take a period of time to restore that system, therefore allow our Connecticut residents to get to jobs within Manhattan when Manhattan is open for business,” Malloy said.

The Connecticut end of Metro-North should have a better determination later today on ability to transport people in and out of Grand Central Station.

Amtrak has canceled Northeast Corridor services on Monday. It is assessing damage from Hurricane Sandy and are beginning to make necessary repairs. An announcement of limited service restoration along the Northeast Corridor will be made this afternoon.

Megabus is temporarily canceling service.
