Alpha Travel is long gone from a strip mall in Colchester, and so is the money that authorities say Deborah Long took from 10 customers.

Long was charged with larceny this week in Norwich, accused of stealing more than $27,450 in payments for travel that was never booked, including $2,555 an Uncasville woman paid for a trip to Aruba, according to court papers.

"Long told her she made a catastrophic error and could never repay her," the documents state.

Other alleged victims include an East Haddam teenager who lost nearly $3,000 he paid for a 25th anniversary vacation for his parents, a vacation the court papers say was never taken and a 96-year-old Colchester woman who allegedly lost $1,320 she paid toward a trip to Disney World.

Long filed for protection from her creditors last year.

NBC Connecticut went to her home but a man who came to the door did not open it.

Long will return to court Oct. 26.
