A 44-year-old Kensington woman who was injured after a tree fell on her car in Meriden on Saturday was released from the hospital.

Gwen McCann was traveling westbound along Kensington Avenue when a large tree fell onto her car, crushed the roof and trapped her inside, police said.

Rescue crews pulled McCann from the wreck by cutting off the driver's side door.

She was taken to Hartford Hospital by ambulance and later released, hospital officials said.

LifeStar was called to the scene but conditions were too windy to fly.

The Meriden Department of Public Works removed the tree from the roadway.

There is no word yet if wind caused the tree to fall.  The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
