Trumbull Chef Faces Murder Trial in Road Rage Stabbing

A judge has found probable cause to try a Trumbull restaurant chef for murder in a Bridgeport road rage stabbing.

Tony Espinal, 36, is accused of killing 27-year-old Bryant Kelly on the Route 8/25 Connector on Dec. 18 in Bridgeport.

The Connecticut Post reports Superior Court Judge Maria Kahn ruled Friday after a three-day hearing. Espinal pleaded not guilty and chose a jury trial.

Espinal's lawyer John Gulash says his client didn't intend to kill Kelly and asked the judge to listen to 911 dispatch DVDs on which the men are heard arguing.

State police say they found Kelly unresponsive with several stab wounds. He died at a hospital.
Police said Espinal had blood on his right hand. He told officers he was defending himself and to look in his trunk, where they found a bloody knife.
